Rene Lalique, who died in 1945 is famous for beautiful glass which
he made from the 1890's to 1940. Rene Lalique glass production was quite
extensive and varied ranging from car mascots
(radiator caps), clocks, mirrors, perfume bottles
and wonderful decorative vases.

Lalique created over 250 different perfume
bottles for Coty, Worth, Forvil, Houbigant and many other French perfumers.
Lalique made clear, frosted , and colored glass in
grey, amber, yellow, green, blue, black and plum. Laliques perfected use
of opalescent glass, which resembles diamonds and opals, was used to create
figurines, plates, bowls, vases, chandeliers, and car mascots. |
Rene Lalique produced these wonderful objects in an Art Nouveau and
later in Art Deco style. Lalique's creations are "highly collected" by
all levels of collectors and Rene Lalique glass has been
exhibited in numerous museums all
over the world.
Rene Lalique, although most famous for his art design in glass, was also
a noteworthy goldsmith and jeweler who created for actresses such as
Sarah Bernhardt, numerous nobility and his greatest patron Calouste
Gulbenkian.
At the height of Rene Laliques production at his Wingen-sur-Moder factory,
Lalique employed over 600 workers. After his death in 1945 Laliques son Marc
reopened the factory. Lalique is run today by his granddaughter Marie-Claude.
The greatest of design is seen in every piece Lalique created. Today it is
a wonderful experience to seek out and find a piece when you begin collecting
